#213 November Koi

I went to Balboa Park to photograph the lilies,
expecting to see glorious green lilly pads floating in the huge reflecting koi pond…

The lillies were there… floating gracefully…
but they were not at all green!
It was November.
I never knew autumn colours affected lilies.

First I thought “Oh great, I have to wait 'till Spring!”
Then I stopped my expectation frustration,
seeing their beauty, their amazing colours.
Purples, yellows, reds and oranges… my colours!

So, with a humbled appreciation of nature's perfection,
I painted the ‘November Koi.’

A good lesson in non-expectation.

November colours fill the pond at Balboa
Park, as autumn’s dressing settles in.
